Getting a Work From Home Job
Author: America's Job ExchangeWhile some people prefer the hustle and bustle of working in an office, others like the quiet solitude that comes from working at home. These jobs have many advantages as well as disadvantages. Flexibility allows people who work from home to tackle tasks at their leisure without a set time. They do not have to be in their seat at 8:00 AM sharp, and can take their time getting ready in the morning without spending half an hour in traffic. They can also work in their pajamas, eat a homemade breakfast and lunch, and take breaks as needed. If you have a doctor\'s appointment or something that needs to be done, the flexibility to get these done is there.
One of the disadvantages of working from home is the lack of motivation. Often peers and colleagues are a source of encouragement and motivation in the office. Without these, a person may lack the drive to get things done. They may prefer to watch TV or read a book instead of work. Or they may miss the chatter and activity that comes with working in an office. Some may have problems troubleshooting technology issues, installing software, or navigating tricky websites without a help desk. Whatever the case, there are positives and negatives to having a telecommuting job.
The Internet is chock-full of work-from-home jobs. There are little thousands upon thousands of these jobs. The problem is, many of them are scams. It\'s important to be able to detect these scams and tell the difference between a legitimate job opening and a fake. A scam is typically a job posting that lures you in with the promise of great things, but then asks for money up front for training, manuals, or software. More than likely if a company asks you to pay for your own tools, it is a scam.
It may looks like this:
Dear,
[Company Name] company was established in 2004 by an international team of financial and marketing experts. We specialize in delivering positive business results through solving currency exchange problem as well as online payments and transactions, their tools being innovative solutions, high performance and e-commerce optimization techniques.
We offer a 'work at home' part-time position 'Regional Manager'. This includes processing payments between our partners\' clients and our company, ensure all personal data relating to customers is maintained, accurate and kept discreet, identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.
Position Type: Permanent. Working hours: 9:00AM - 1:00PM weekdays. Variable overtime is also required Occupation Type: part-time (1-5 hours a day occupation). Salary: $40 per hour.
Be wary of job postings that offer exceptionally high hourly rates. Forty dollars an hour is not a common rate. Typically these jobs offer anywhere from $8 to $25 an hour. Also be leery of a company that wants you to handle money. Odds are a telecommuting job won\'t be centered around handling financial transactions, due to security concerns.
Once you have identified ways to tell the difference between fake jobs and real jobs, you can begin applying for jobs. Always do your research before sending out applications and never send in money for anything. A legitimate job will never ask you to pay for training or other fees.
